Chameleon Net Wins Best in Class in IMA Awards University and Charity Categories.  (8/01/2010)

IMA Award

London digital agency, Chameleon Net has won Best in Class – the highest award attainable - in two categories in the 2009 Interactive Media Awards (IMA). The accolades were awarded for the agency's redesign of the home page of the University of Portsmouth's website and the Diabetes Challenge site created for Diabetes UK.

Regarded as one of the higher education sector's most professional marketers, The University of Portsmouth chose Chameleon Net to revamp its home page in February 2009, pending a full review of its online presence. The new design, completed in May, incorporates an interactive navigation panel, links to recent news stories and a revolving slideshow which highlights key aspects of student life in Portsmouth. Visitors can also view video content and access the university's Twitter and RSS feeds from the homepage.

Chameleon Net was one of just two agencies to receive the Best in Class award from a total of 57 entries in the university category.

Diabetes Challenge is a fundraising website that breaks new ground by tapping into the reach of social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. Launched to coincide with Diabetes UK's 75th anniversary, Diabetes Challenge enables anybody to challenge themselves or someone else to raise funds for the charity by taking on a given challenge. The social networking element and community feel of the site were central to meeting the client's core objective of attracting fundraisers from beyond its traditional supporter base.

A total of 59 entries were submitted in the charity category, with just five attaining Best in Class status.

The Interactive Media Awards recognise excellence in web design, advertising and marketing and are open to agencies, corporations and individuals from across the world. IMA states that the Best in Class award, “represents the very best in planning, execution and overall professionalism.”

Commenting on the awards, Dan Martin, Marketing Director at Chameleon Net, said, “These two projects called for a wide variety of skills. While the University of Portsmouth homepage revamp called for design expertise, Diabetes Challenge gave us an opportunity to demonstrate technical innovation and creative thinking in the role that social media can play in charity fundraising. We're delighted that the IMA judges recognised our achievements across these websites by presenting Chameleon Net with two Best in Class awards.”
