Chameleon Net clicks with University of East Anglia (27/03/2009)
The University of East Anglia (UEA) has appointed Chameleon Net, the London-based digital agency and higher education specialist, to create and manage an international Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign.
The campaign will promote a postgraduate course to students in China and Malaysia. Current UEA students will also be involved, providing paid translation services and acting as brand ambassadors for the institution.
Pay Per Click advertisements appear when a user enters keywords or phrases matching those that the advertiser has bid on. The value of the bid is the fee paid by the advertiser when the user clicks through to its website from the PPC advertisement. UEA and Chameleon Net are planning a geographically targeted, three-month trial campaign. Success could see UEA widening its online marketing strategy to include additional PPC campaigns, organic search engine optimisation and community engagement through social networks.
Mark Barlow, Head of Recruitment, International and Outreach Office at UEA said, "This is a great opportunity to evaluate the potential of PPC for international student recruitment. It will also give students here valuable experience of working with a digital agency on a live project. We're looking forward both to the campaign itself and the wider online activity we expect it to lead to."
Head of Online Marketing at Chameleon Net, Drew Davies believes UEA's international students are ideally placed to reach out to people from overseas. "They can overcome language and cultural barriers and establish a meaningful rapport with people considering University of East Anglia", he said. "This in turn, helps to build trust in the brand, which is a key objective of online marketing."
