Web design innovation in the higher education sector (01/04/07)
Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) today announces the launch of its new website, www.bucks.ac.uk, created using the latest in web design best practice from London web agency Chameleon Net.
The new look site is representative of a dynamic, innovative institution that is evolving its range of higher education programmes to meet the needs of its current and prospective student body.
Daryl Irvine, Creative Director at Chameleon Net, said, "The biggest challenge was to create a powerful, engaging design that identifies BCUC as a unique proposition in the education sector. BCUC's willingness to explore more adventurous designs gave us the scope to achieve a vibrant yet easy-to-use website that reflects the aims and direction of the University College".
Chameleon adopts a tried and tested design process that combines creativity and usability. The company's methodology means that websites always fulfil visitors' needs whilst allowing for a unique, inspiring aesthetic.
This user-focused design is perfect for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), where developing an online 'edge' is a key factor as the sector becomes more competitive. Prospective students are becoming much more discriminating, and HEIs need to develop the best possible web presence in order to compete effectively in an increasingly commercialised market.

Derek Godfrey, Deputy Director (Operations) at BCUC
Derek Godfrey, Deputy Director (Operations) at BCUC agreed: "Shaping the right online presence for BCUC is essential for our engagement with prospective students."
He continued, "A significant factor in choosing Chameleon Net was their understanding of the HE market and BCUC's goals. We were totally confident that, by working in partnership with Chameleon, we would be able to deliver a fresh, unique new look for our website. As you can see from our new website, the re-design has been completely successful in achieving this ambition!"
